Case Study

Server Migration

Key Challenges

The Client has been in the business of Real Estate for many decades. They use MRI Software to manage their properties effectively, which includes keeping track of tenants, rent collection, maintenance, and financial reporting.

For several years, they had been using a cloud-based version of the MRI software, which provided them with the convenience of accessing their data from anywhere, as well as automatic software updates. However, as the company grew, it became increasingly concerned about the security of its data. They also realized that the cloud-based version of the software was not meeting all of their compliance requirements, particularly in regard to industry regulations.

After conducting a thorough review of their IT infrastructure, they decided to migrate their MRI server from the cloud to an on-premise environment. This would allow them to have more control over their data security and compliance, as well as have a more reliable and efficient system. They also recognized that this migration would be a complex process that would require careful planning and execution to minimize disruption to their day-to-day operations and to ensure the integrity of their data.

The CRES Solution

CRES has helped the Client migrate their cloud-based MRI Server to their physical on-prem location with zero downtime.

The migration process involved data backups & restore, server configuration, testing, and deployment.

The project was initiated with the installation and configuration of the Windows servers. This included installing the Client software and any necessary updates, as well as configuring the server’s settings to ensure optimal performance and security. The backup of the current Client servers and databases was taken, followed by the transfer of that data to the new on-premise SQL server. Afterward, CRES thoroughly tested the new on-premise server and Client software to ensure the server’s performance, security, and data integrity. Then. customer performed the user acceptance testing, which included validation of data and any custom configurations. Finally, CRES deployed the new on-premise server and Client software to production with minimal disruption.

The migration project was successfully completed on schedule. The new on-premise servers and Client software were performing well, and the client is now able to better control its data security and comply with industry standards.
